Frequency annual Record Store Day is an annual event inaugurated in 2007 and held on one Saturday every April to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store". The day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores across the world. A number of records are pressed specifically for Record Store Day, with a unique list of releases for each country, and are only distributed to shops participating in the event. The event began in the United States and remains headquartered there. Record Store Day has official international organizers in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Australia, and Spain.
For those that receive the April AARP Bulletin Vol 58 No. 3 news magazine there is a great story on Record Store Day and one man's story about his longtime passion for vinyl. Michael Kurtz talks about his story and reputation "getting the groove back in vinyl"
Long live vinyl records and the memories many of us still hold onto when listening to the incredible music played.
